Subject: planetary filters

I recently bought a basic set of Orion planetary filters. Viewing Jupiter with the filters made no difference. The viewing conditions have been below average, but the view of Jupiter was clear. Does the Great Red Spot have to be in transit for the planetary filters to be useful? Bruce

It did make one equitorial band darker and easier to see.
