..as a follow-up to my chi Cyg obs in IR I've added a page at

http://home.freeuk.com/m.gavin/irstel.htm

showing technique and preliminary results and will add shots of Lyra,
Del, Sagitta taken last night soon - the sky appearance in IR is quite
different to visual and even bright stars like Vega is challenged by
'faint' R Lyr into second place!

Very cool idea, Maurice. How about a B60 or a lunar shot next? - Canopus56

It is good to hear from you too HJ. This is a good group except that there
are many atheists here. Fortunately, there is still hope for them.

Sure. Jesus saves. Jesus saves... But wait, what if he decides, when he
has saved enough, to buy a large apochromatic refractor? We can't really
take the chance, can we?

I didn't know that he is a refractor guy. :-)

Well, that's the Orthodox view. ;-)

Thanks all for your interest. I've added Lyra, Delphinus + Sagitta
starfields to my homepage
http://home.freeuk.com/m.gavin/irstel.htm
and identified more bright stars that prove to be faint red M + K
spectral types which IR highlights.

IR completely changes the 'visual' appearance of the starfields and
I've yet to find a satisfactory means of presentation. Note how R Lyr,
although several mags fainter visually, rivals Vega.
