Did anyone else see this? About 10:55 EST. I was driving home from the grocery store when I saw a flaming meteor in the East. I saw it and as soon as I could I pulled into a parking lot and jumped out and ran, but I wasn't able to see where the fireball went. It had a long trail and flamed green while I saw it, pointing towards the south.

HOWEVER -- on weeknights, the fireworks are around 9:00 PM and your observation was almost two hours later, so, likely NOT part of the fireworks show -- and, if you saw fireworks, you likely would have seen more than one fireball. I live in NE Knoxville -- Washington Pike about two minutes from the mall (Knoxville Center, used to be East Town), inside 640 -- but I was not outside at that time. I'll check the morning paper and watch local newscasts to see if they say anything.

There were many reports of a fireball in New Zealand yesterday: http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3795163a10,00.html Alas, I did not find any news reports for Utah or Tenn. Austin
