Subject: defocused pattern anomaly

Hello,

I was just out with my MN66 and had Vega unfocused. I noticed what appeared
like a reflection of the diffraction pattern at the outer ring. At times
there were two or three spread out around the perimeter but the brightest
one was always present even when I switched eyepieces. The scope appears to
be in good alignment and the seeing is average. Does anyone have any idea
what I'm seeing?

Thanks,
Dan

I've found some images of out-of-focus star patterns and it appears that the
"anomaly" is normal.
