Looks like I haven't been looking close enough at M31. Thanks for the webpage incorporated link to the online copy of Hodge's Atlas. Is there an index that says what each Hodge region might be - o.c., glob, dark cloud area, etc. - Canopus56

there's a pretty thorough documentation section on the Hodge page http://nedwww.ipac.caltech.edu/level5/ANDROMEDA_Atlas/frames.html the particular "callout regions" on the map pages have a designator such as "Axxx", "Cxxx" or 'Gxxx" or "Dxxx" those denote: Stellar Associations, Open Star Clusters, Globular Star Clusters and Dust Clouds respectively that information is is Table 4 of the dox "canopus56" <canopus56@yahoo.com > wrote in message news:1156550364.984230.236040@75g2000cwc.googlegroups.com... > Richard Crisp wrote: >> old pic from c14 but may be relevant to interests here >> http://www.narrowbandimaging.com/ngc206_open_cluster_page.htm > > Nicely done. http://nedwww.ipac.caltech.edu/level5/ANDROMEDA_Atlas/Hodge_plates.html use the "NEXT" command to take you to Table 4 for the definitions of the markers on the plates "canopus56" <canopus56@yahoo.com > wrote in message news:1156550364.984230.236040@75g2000cwc.googlegroups.com... > Richard Crisp wrote: >> old pic from c14 but may be relevant to interests here >> http://www.narrowbandimaging.com/ngc206_open_cluster_page.htm > > Nicely done.
