Somehow, I think a group of trained astronauts who have to actually
wear spacesuits from time to time would know what a space suit looked
like, even from a significant distance.

This very small object had a co-orbit with this shuttle with an

Many of us can remember a time when putting that plastic bag into low
earth orbit would have been a major scientific achievement! Now, with
the use of the space shuttle, we can routinely put a plastic bag into
orbit for, oh, maybe 450 million dollars...

No, the suitsat already re-entered and burned up, as I recall reading a
couple of weeks ago. Maybe what they saw was Jimmy Hoffa.
