This is just plain funny !.

http://www.nineplanets.org/

I enjoy seeing the astrophotographers trying to play with 8 planets and
supporting the theorists who put a stop to the pathetic attempt to
'define' a planet. The proper feeling should be irritation, even for
astrophotographers.

Mr. Kelleher still showing why he is my favorite crackpot

That's if he isn't just a bot with a set of randomly selected
boilerplate scripts. Every post he makes fails the Turing test.

Eugene L Griessel

Brainpower is the world's scarcest commodity, and the only one of any
real intrinsic value. Any human organisation can be rendered useless,
impotent, a danger to itself, by selectively removing its best minds while
carefully leaving its stupid ones in place. Stupid fools look just like
geniuses until the fighting starts.

Celestial sphere geometers justify the return of a star to a meridian
in 23 hours 56 min 04 sec by using the axial and orbital motion of the
Earth making it a geometric exercise and this suits me fine -

http://hypertextbook.com/facts/1999/JennyChen.shtml

Considering that a star's return to a meridian works in a system where
there are 3 years of 365 days and 1 year of 366 days should alert
intelligent people to the fact that it is a catastrophic way to justify
axial and orbital motion in the context of an annual cycle.

The casual pseudo-authority of 'definitional ' conventions are fine
however in matters of astronomical justications using geometry you get
to highlight yourself as a celestial sphere geometer -

http://www.opencourse.info/astronomy/introduction/02.motion_stars_sun/celestial_sphere_anim.gif

The system behind the Earth rotation at 15 degrees per hour is a
exquisite two step process with the Equation of Time correction
straddling its pre-Copernican origins and its heliocentric adaption to
axial rotation as a principle.Technically and geometrically affirming
something is hardly superseded by worthless conventions and definitions
and I suggest you start recognising the astronomical heritage which
generated the 24 hour system first and then applied it to axial
rotation when that motion was infered by Copernicus.

The same thinking which suddenly appeared to demote the status of Pluto
as a planet is the same thinking which cannot even manage to give the
correct value for the rotation of the Earth on its axis, the most
fundamental correlation of all - 24 hours/360 degrees.

How many irritated astrophotographers out there trying to absorb an
uneccessary and meaningless 'definitional' episode in planetary
demotion. It just goes to show how physical objects mean nothing to the
theorists and no doubt, even astrophotographers here will squirm
uncomfortably with the forced absence of Pluto as a planet.

I only wish an abrupt change in direction was possible with the most
fundamental correlation of all through the easy to comprehend Equation
of Time correction, its pre-Copernican form in creating the 24 hour day
and its heliocentric adaption to axial rotation at 15 degrees per
hour. The two step process is one the greatest human achievements known
and none of you appreciate it.

You should indeed feel a natural affinity for those who think that the
number of planets is of great importance. Whether there are 8 or 9 or
12 is a question of the same type as whether 24 hours is the period of
the earth's rotation or the interval at which a given point faces the
sun: a matter of convention, nothing more.

I love you website Eugene and especially your correct identification
for axial rotation at 15 degrees per hour,it will not get you invited
to any star parties by the celestial sphere astrologers but who needs
them.

Now Eugene, there is nothing worse than a miserable coward so you go
right on ahead and include your website when you post.

"Imagine the earth as a large orange. Slice the peel into gores as if
you were about to peel it. These "slices" equate to the lines of
longitude. Longitude is a "man made" measure insofar that the line from
which all longitude is measured is the line that runs through the old
naval observatory in Greenwich. Longitudinal distances are related to
time and every 15=B0 is the distance the earth rotates in one hour."
