I thought that the Telrad was indestructible, but I find that mine has suddenly stopped working. There is no apparent physical damage. I see that there is no way to replace the light (led??). Has anyone had this problem or could suggest a fix? George N

Are you sure your batterys are not dead? I had a wire brake once while putting in new batters so I had to do a fast fix of that, but the only other troubl I've had was the outside dimmer lever broke off when it was banged once, but it's just fine even with just the bolt head sticking out and very useable . -- The Lone Sidewalk Astronomer of Rosamond Telescope Buyers FAQ http://home.inreach.com/starlord Sidewalk Astronomy www.sidewalkastronomy.info Astronomy Net Online Gift Shop http://www.cafepress.com/astronomy_net In Garden Online Gift Shop http://www.cafepress.com/ingarden Blast Off Online Gift Shop http://www.cafepress.com/starlords Astro Blog http://starlord.bloggerteam.com/ "George Normandin" <georgepn@worldnet.att.net > wrote in message news:4Vvwg.161656$mF2.50578@bgtnsc04-news.ops.worldnet.att.net... >I thought that the Telrad was indestructible, but I find that mine has >suddenly stopped working. If you used aliy batterys they can go dead without warning, I had mine and one time I setup and found that almost over night they had dropped down in power, not enough to light leds, had to run across the street to the arco to get some AA's to replace them with. -- The Lone Sidewalk Astronomer of Rosamond Telescope Buyers FAQ http://home.inreach.com/starlord Sidewalk Astronomy www.sidewalkastronomy.info Astronomy Net Online Gift Shop http://www.cafepress.com/astronomy_net In Garden Online Gift Shop http://www.cafepress.com/ingarden Blast Off Online Gift Shop http://www.cafepress.com/starlords Astro Blog http://starlord.bloggerteam.com/ "George Normandin" <georgepn@worldnet.att.net > wrote in message news:FbUwg.165931$mF2.142613@bgtnsc04-news.ops.worldnet.att.net... > > "Starlord" <starlord@sidewalkastronomy.info> wrote > >> Are you sure your batterys are not dead? Could be bad wiring (the wiring inside is a bit amateurish- you should check it out), and make sure the battery terminals are clean. Also, the switch/pot is a likely failure point. That should be pretty easy to replace. Try shorting across it with something and see if the light comes on. _________________________________________________ Chris L Peterson Cloudbait Observatory http://www.cloudbait.com

They must "go" because Highpoint Scientific sells replacements for a few bucks. I'll also try cleaning the battery terminals. I have some time to work on it now: a friend is going to let me borrow one for Stellafane next weekend. George N

However, I didn't check to see if the terminals are dirty. The unit got left on after using it last week. George N

I have one that goes between Babylon 8 and SG4 and that can be a pain as I have to reline the telrad for each scope, and Galactica has it's own telrad. Got to see how my bills go this month see if maybe a good pocket watch and a telrad if nothing else. Pocket watch I've been using died today. -- The Lone Sidewalk Astronomer of Rosamond Telescope Buyers FAQ http://home.inreach.com/starlord Sidewalk Astronomy www.sidewalkastronomy.info Astronomy Net Online Gift Shop http://www.cafepress.com/astronomy_net In Garden Online Gift Shop http://www.cafepress.com/ingarden Blast Off Online Gift Shop http://www.cafepress.com/starlords Astro Blog http://starlord.bloggerteam.com/ "Sam Wormley" <swormley1@mchsi.com > wrote in message news:03Axg.97496$1i1.82363@attbi_s72... > George Normandin wrote: >> "Sam Wormley" <> wrote >> .... >> >>>George Normandin wrote: >>> >>>>I thought that the Telrad was indestructible, but I find that mine has >>>>suddenly stopped working. Are Telrads like scopes -- you can never have too many and the guy who dies with the most, wins.
