Getting closer, and who KNOWS what to expect this evening...

But if it looks at ALL practical, I'll put out the Brandon... Deb wasn't
all that interested in going outside last night and seeing if SHE could find
the comet with a pair of binoculars, but if I offer it to her in an eyepiece
of a telescope, and one she can REACH, it might be another story... Not
only THAT, but if the seeing is even reasonably OK, in THAT scope, it should
look GREAT!!!

And if THAT works, it'll allow me a little time to play with the double
cluster at low power and wide field, with pinpoint stars everywhere...

Howdy Jan!
Been cloudy here for so long I haven't had a look at SWAN yet.
Hopefully before too long, things will clear up.

Well, it wasn't much tonight... Clouds wrecked things...

My original plan was to put the 94mm APO out tonight, but with all the patio
furniture stacked along the outer patio, because construction that begins
tomorrow, there was no good place to put the scope, and the lawn has freshly
sprouted winter ryegrass that's not yet ready for foot traffic... So it was
a no-go for any of the telescopes...

But, because I could see the clouds coming, I rushed things a bit, and put
my 11X80 binoculars outside on a big tripod in twilight, and let my wife
take a look at the comet... Easily seen, even before it was really dark,
but the extra light in the western sky certainly didn't do much for the
contrast...

It was much more impressive last night, even with a lot of water vapor in
the atmosphere, and clouds forming before our eyes as if by magic...

In addition to the comet, I spent a fair amount of time on other objects,
with the binoculars, as well... In addition to the comet, there was M-13, a
glimpse of M-92 (I'd probably be better to say it was "suspected" rather
than observed), and then I spent a fair amount of time on and around the
double cluster in Perseus... The dc is one of my three favorite objects in
the sky, and probably my MOST favorite...
