AURORA WATCH: Sky watchers, be alert for auroras. A coronal mass ejection (CME) is expected to brush past Earth tonight, sparking a mild geomagnetic storm. The display will probably favor high latitudes--e.g., Scandinavia, Canada and Alaska--but it could descend as well to northern-tier US states such as Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Skywatchers should welcome the blast. Even if they didn't know about it, a sudden auroral display is awesome. Alert and WARNING are very inappropriate words. Try something like ATTENTION: or EXTRA EXTRA..read all about it...

Anyone skywatching would be glad to see them even if they didn't know about a flaring. Anyone doing astrophotos wouldn't want it however. It would wreck the exposure.
