Gee, Ed,

I don't know where you come up with the subject of this thread "ScopeTronix
is closed until further notice"...

Here's what I see at the top of their webpage:

"Please Note: We have been experiencing some persistent problems with the
phone lines at our new location. It seems every time it rains (almost every
afternoon here in SW Florida) the phones go dead and by the time the repair
person arrives it is working and they can't find the problem. We hope to
have this resolved shortly and apologize for the inconvenience."

That's a far cry from being "closed until further notice".

Try refreshing, I just checked again and here's the copy and paste:
ScopeTronix is closed until further notice.

Sorry, Ed,

I stand by my first reply. There is no "ScopeTronix is closed until further
notice", but instead the message I quoted earlier about difficulty with
their new telephone system. I don't have any idea what you're looking at.
And yes, I refreshed the page. Then I cleared the cache and tried again.
Same result.

I wouldn't lie to you, Dave! <g >
Truly strange! There's a similar thread on Astromart, seems half the people
are getting my view and half are getting yours...

Hi again, Ed,

Strange indeed. The URL I went to was the one you posted in your original
post: http://www.scopetronix.com/
Here's where I see the message about the difficulty they're having with
their new phone lines. I attempted to go to the URL listed in the astromart
thread you mentioned and discovered they're talking about
www.Scopetronixtelescopes.com which I've never heard of. I can't get to
that URL at all. Sorry if I led you to believe I thought you were lying to
me - I didn't think that at all.

No offense taken, hence the grin <g >

The scopetronix.telescopes.com link is to a retailer in minnesota.

Speaking of which, does "Telescopes.com" have a retail storefront
worth visiting?

I'm going to be in Pror MN next month; my wife has to inspect the
installation of the Mallet 225 steam engine they have on display
there and I wonder if it's worth looking them up.

Guess I'm dumber than usual tonight -- I checked out their website and this
is what I find:

QUOTE

Please Note: We have been experiencing some persistent problems with the
phone lines at our new location. It seems every time it rains (almost every
afternoon here in SW Florida) the phones go dead and by the time the repair
person arrives it is working and they can't find the problem. We hope to
have this resolved shortly and apologize for the inconvenience.

END QUOTE

Rest of the site looks normal.

The difference turned out to be scopetronix.com (or clicking on the
banner) took you to the "closed" message, but www.scopetronix.com took
you to the apparently open store. It looks like the problem has been
fixed.
