For those unaware: "Big Sky Country" is one of Montana's nicknames. Anyway, here's a brief report on the evening's observation of Comet C/2006 M4 (SWAN): I observed the comet from approximately 1:30 until 2:30 on 27 ober, 2006 U.T. The unaided eye, 7x50 binoculars, and tripod-mounted 25x100 binoculars were used. The coma diameter was estimated at 15 minutes of arc. The tail length was visible for approximately 4 1/2 degrees (in 25x100 as well as 7x50 binoculars). Naked-eye limiting magnitude was about 6.5. M13 was a naked-eye object. The comet was an easier naked-eye object. (The tail was *not* visible to the naked eye - at least not to *my* naked eyes!) (Last night I was clouded out. Also, I recently had a lapse in Internet service (or some kind of related problem) that resulted in the non-reception of (probably) numerous saa postings.) As is often the case, more details can be found in my blog. Willie R. Meghar Observational Notes at: http://meghar.blogspot.com/
