If any East Coast or Eurpoean o.p.s could post an early report after
returning from looking at the expected 4:45pm passage, I would appreciate
it. I'm in the west and would like to fine tune whether to venture out
tonight to a dark sky site. - Canopus56

Observing from 0300-0530UT. Sky conditions quite favourable, good
transparency, no cloud. Definitely more meteors during period
0350-0450UT then odd sporadic in the sky.

Saw about 6 Leonids from 4:40 - 06:10 UT here from Sweden. About half
sky was cloudy.
Thought I saw a small fast ripple (black rings) near zenith at 06:05.
Illusion or something in my eyes?

I watched 4:00-4:30 and 4:45-5:00 UT (then morning twilight got too
bright) and saw three Leonids and one sporadic. The Leonics were
quite bright, around mag 1 to 2. The sky was clear and dark and my
naked-eye magnitude limit around 6.

Definitely not a spectacular shower.

Not very spectacular, but we saw some (8-10) and imaged one here in Norway
http://arnholm.org/astro/atmosphere/meteors/

Saw one with a smoke trail lasting ~5 sec. Lots of clouds caused problems,
but between the clouds it was very clear.

Looks like the southern half of the USA is going to see this one. The latest
sat image shows the northern half of the country and just about all of
Canada under cloud. I've been listening to the meteor radio
(http://www.roswellastronomyclub.com/radio_meteors.htm) and I've only heard
a very few 'pings', so they are getting nothing now (4:30 UT Nov 19).

So far nothing (02:20UT) to be writing home about. A couple of
relatively bright ones.

Outside Milton Keynes, England, UK, totally clear and transparent skies
(n/emag +5)
Watch from 0305-0535UT with a 10 minutes break.
23 leonids recorded of whom 3 flashes in low horizon cloud (could have
been fireworks but past 4am at different azimuths over open
countryside?) and 7 sporadics.

To synchronise to your watches (single observer wysiwyg, no correction)

0305-0330UT -- 2 leonids, no sporadics
0330-0425UT -- 11 leonids, 4 sporadics
0435-0535UT -- 10 leonids, 3 sporadics

I was minding a camera at the same time when I could have missed some.

I ran out for a little while around 1:00am here in west-central Iowa,
USA, and saw zilch. The night was fairly clear though, so a good excuse
to get out under the stars and enjoy the constellations. :)

Rio Grande Astronomical Society had their star party near San Ysidro NM.
There were around six scopes set up, including my little NexStar 114 GT
and several much larger scopes. We saw about half a dozen meteors, some
spectacular, though none of them came from the general direction of
Leo, so they probably weren't Leonids.

Lots of other pretties were seen, however. The site's dark enough to see
the Milky Way, and we saw the Andromeda Nebula, the Orion Nebula,
Uranus, Neptune, the Dumbbell Nebula, and the Ring Nebula. We ended the
party around 10 PM.

Saw four mag 2-3 meteors over a two-hour period aligned with the
radiant and Leo 20-40 degs alt at W111 degs o.p. Amazingly, less than
normal background. Telescopic viewing 5 degrees off the radiant center
for a total of 15 minutes showed no activity. Nonetheless, a good time
was had by all. Thanks for all the reports. - Canopus56

totally clear skies at the Orange County Astronomers site near Anza
Californai. Leo rose after midnight and we have seen two leonicd
meteors so far in a 30 minute period. One was bright enough to leave a
trail of yellow "dust" for a few seconds.

Gone back to sleep a few hours. From 04:45UT to 05:45UT very few fast
meteor, 3 in total under a mag5 sky. I had far better luck 2 days ago.
A total dud.

Single observer counts already adjusted for cloud cover

02:30 - 03:30 ~ 6 (30% cover)
03:30 - 04:30 ~ 8 (50% cover)
04:30 - 05:30 ~ 16 (10% cover)

Location: Angelsey, NELM 6+. M35 clearly visible to direct vision, winter
Milky Way visible down past Canis Major.
No real evidence of an outburst unless they were too faint and quick for our
aged eyes :)
