Subject: Ptolemaic Equant and Copernican epicyles

In order to square the observed inequalities in the motion of the
planets,the Ptolemaic astronomers created the Equant.This refinement
based on the motion of the planets based on geocentricity was an
extension of the main Ptolemaic thrust of periodic looping motions.
Copernicus accounted for the observed looping motions through an
orbitally moving Earth between the orbits Venus and Mars and
introduced minor epicycles to keep orbits circular.
The Ptolemaic astronomers never considered the looping motions as
epicycles,that was later fiction brought in to support the idea that
Copernicus abolished some but not all epicycles.

Page 81 affirms through the words of Kepler why it is a horrible insult
to force the Ptolemaic astronomers into the subhuman celestial sphere
geometry of empiricists and the fiction created to support their Ra\Dec
systemThe intricate refinement of Copernican heliocentricity by Kepler
was acknowledging the working principles of an orbitally moving Earth
and replacing Copernican epicycles and the Ptolemaic Equant with a
more accurate reflection of planetary motion.
The Newtonian mutation destroys the intricate and wonderful trajectory
of discoveries that began with Ptolemy and dramitically resolved by
Copernicus and later refined by Kepler.The utterly ignorant and brute
view was that the Panis Quadragesinmalis of Kepler (page 86) represents
a stationary Earth with Ptolemaic epicyles which is resolved by
shoving the Sun in the center of the diagram which in turns straightens
out the lines,hence this ugly and brutal mutation -
"For to the earth planetary motion appears sometimes direct, sometimes
stationary, nay, and sometimes retrograde. But from the sun they are
always seen direct, " NEWTON
Now,I do not expect too many to bother to try and go through the
working principles of the Ptlomaic and heliocentric astronomers but
astronomy stopped dead when this empirical mutation arose.It is not
just the wonderful insights that are lost,albeit temporarily,it is the
working principles where the Earth's motions are required where the
impact is really felt.
The indignity belongs to our generation rather than the small celestial
sphere group that has a stranglehold on astronomy and the working
principles for the Earth's motion,that not one person has bothered to
take up the discussion on this absolutely crucial difference between
Copernicus \Kepler and the awful Newtonian mutations is incredible
given that global warming studies required a highly focused and
detailed analysis of the Earth's motions and orientations.
There are many with intellectual and intuitive intelligence to know the
difference between what is correct and the awful Newtonian mutation but
it is not a matter of knowing the difference,it has to be acted
upon.Those who would label me a celestial mechanic would also call
themselves astronomers,amateur or otherwise,but this is my turn.
For once somebody in the forum correctly called themselves an
astrophotographer and they should be proud of that vocation for it is
accurate and I have nothing to say against the spotting of and
magnification of celestial objects.They are not even required to know
why the Ra\Dec system is just a locational convenience that does not
require a justification in any shape or form,astronomically or
otherwise.
