Subject: Problem with Rigel Quickfinder
|
I just bought a Rigel Quickfinder for my astroscan. I notice that both red circles are a little fuzzy no matter where my eye is placed. Each circle looks like it's comprised of several red arcs that don't quite overlap. I was wondering if anyone here had the same problem and if I should bother sending it back. Abhishek

I think it was a collimation problem (maybe caused by banging it - who knows). In any case, the rings should be nice and crisp, except when all dewed up! Dennis

To what are you focusing your eyes? The system requires that you're seeing the stars, not the mirror on the finder to be the focus point. The arc segments are pretty much irrevelant as they just show the orientation of the scope. If you are focusing correctly on the stars when using the finder, you may want to change the path length of the finder by adjusting all 3 screws equally and see if the focus changes to the better. When you've got the finder adjusted correctly, as you move your eye back and forth a bit, the position of the rings on the sky won't move. That is the important thing to adjust for! -- Yeppie, Bush is such an idiot that He usually outwits everybody else. How dumb!

Never experienced any thing like that, and my eyes are pretty bad. Only complaint I've had is that the device will not turn itself off. I've sure bought a lot of wafer batt's. g >
