Subject: Off subject: searching for a reader of "the sirius mystery" for a confirmation...

Hi,

It is off-subject of amateur astronomy, but I don't find any other website
better suited where I can post this msg. Sorry.

I am currently working on a criticism (negative) of temple's book "the
sirius mystery".

I am searching for an information.
If, by mistake, one of you has always the book on his shelf (or can still
takes it out of his trash can), could you tell me if Temple speaks about
inhabitants (amphibians) living "into" Sirius or if they live on a planet
orbiting this star ? Into or outside ?

At best, could you tell me at what page of this book ?

Thanks in advance

Thierry

You're working on a critique of the book so look it up in your copy.

It is a very precious answer.

I don't have a copy readily at hand, but I did write a review many years
ago. Temple does suggest that the Dogon progenitors are amphibious,
based partly on Dogon legend and partly on his belief that living in
water would be a requirement for protection from the heat of Sirius. As
far as I recall there is no suggestion that they live on or in Sirius,
nor inside a planet. Temple makes some bizarre claim that they might be
like mermaids, and that the Sirens, too, might have been mermaids, and
that the Greek words for "Siren" and "Sirius" are maybe connected. Very
strange stuff.

Surely you aren't trying to write a review without a copy of the book?
It is still in print, and available from Amazon. Indeed, they seem to
have a package deal; you can pick up works by Bauval and Hancock at the
same time. Add in Velikovsky and von Däniken and you'll have the core
library of the all time greatest astronomical crackpots!

Well, let's think about this for a moment. Amphibians... water...
Sirius... star... thousands of degrees... water???

Planet.
