Arrived at KSC 4pm. Took in two hot dogs. One coke. Attended two IMAX movies, one on the space station, one on the moon landings. Cried as I left the theatre. Walked through a few static displays, saw Armstrong's moon suit. Walked to the extreme north end of the Visitor Complex, found a suitable position in front of the Space Mirror memorial, down by the wall at the N perimiter of the complex. Pleadies sparkling overhead. Sky appears clear. Strong searchlights to the north illuminating something behind the treeline. Talk about light pollution. Then at about 8:48:35, give or take a few seconds, a flash of yellowish light from behind the trees. Everyone starts screaming "Wooooooooooooooooooo!!!!" Very disquieting. Suddenly what appears to be a moonrise begins illuminating the treeline to the north. This shortly brightens to the level of a sunrise. There is a huge cloud of some kind of vapor climbing into the sky. A brilliant flare, estimated mag. -24 or -26 rises above the treeline on a column of smoke. Iridium? Uranium? Dunno, but it's bright. People are now shouting something about a baby. The baby is going? Where is the baby going? Where are the baby's parents? They seem like they want this baby to go somewhere. I am blinded by that damned light from the north. And the smoke is getting really terrible. I don't see no baby. I just see this big scary bright light going like hell and then the sound comes...is the earth splitting open? Is this a volcano? I am thinking about diving into the creek on the other side of the wall. The flare or whatever it is is really flying now. It's about 45deg above the horizon, and on an arcing trajectory to the east. It flies behind this huge column of black smoke. There is a crackling sound mixed with a deep rumble. Like firecrackers going off in a cannon barrage. Ducks are flying away from the scene. The flare seems to split into three parts. One blue part, and two yellow parts. Then I can see 3 stellar points of light, very close together. Very much like Sirius, but triple. Getting smaller and smaller, and moving closer to the horizon. I don't know what this was, but I know I wasn't the only one to see it, and it appears that a lot of people got some pictures of it. I figure if I called the police to report it, they'd think I was nuts. So I leave. Man, traffic really picked up. I headed over to the Waffle House in Titusville for a cup of coffee. Did anyone else see this thing?

I watched it from the west cost via nasa tv. I'm waiting for the New Passager SpaceShip by rutan to take flight from Mojave Spaceport. -- There are those who believe that life here, began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans, who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltechs, or the Mayans. Some believe that they may yet be brothers of man, who even now fight to survive, somewhere beyond the heavens.
