http://tinyurl.com/o5f9o By Irene Klotz "CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (Reuters) - NASA is considering shutting down all the research programs it conducts aboard the International Space Station for at least a year to fill a projected budget shortfall of up to $100 million, a top station manager said on Thursday." "When implementing more than $300 million of station cuts last year, NASA Administrator Mike Griffin told Congress it was more important to get the station built than spend money for research." My impression is that this was always the case. "Cutting science programs would suggest that it is merely a joy ride to the moon," said Katie Boyd, spokeswoman for Alabama Republican Sen. Richard Shelby. "It would mean that we as a national have wasted billions of taxpayer dollars." Well, they hardly do any research anyway. Might as well take something that is 99% useless and make it 100% so! <g > _________________________________________________ Chris L Peterson Cloudbait Observatory http://www.cloudbait.com

Genesis,as a work, took around 700 years to reach its final form, the chronology found in the Massoretic text is a single unit that begins with Genesis 1 and ends in Genesis 7.The format of the chronology has been known for over 120 years through the work of Julius Oppert in his 1877 work 'Der Daten der Genesis'. http://dz-srv1.sub.uni-goettingen.de/sub/digbib/doasearch?sa1=3DAuthor&sv1= =3DOppert%2CJulius I see you as careless with the sacred texts as you are with the noble discipline of astronomy,in matters of faith,it shows that the Hebrew authors were on top of their form when it came to matching other civilisations in releasing their astronomical knowledge for those who can handle these facets. The very real nervousness of Copernicus in releasing his heliocentric system was that the mediocre tend to lose control and the run of themselves when approaching intuitive insights,300 years of empiricism is a testament to that unfortunate condition . No doubt the political asides and tone of this thread is aimed at individuals who care less about what you think, they do however gauge correctly that the climate (no pun intended) is definitely towards concerns based on extreme meteorological events affecting human activity and indeed existence itself. In the conceptual vacuum created by centuries of theoretical excesses you would do better to grasp basic astronomical principles such as the Earth's motions before you decide to make a careless comment on the sacred texts of the Judaeo-Christian authors.

His purely political motives would be satisfied with spending the money in Huntsville, whether stuff flies or not, so that being publicly concerned that we get gebuine results for the expenditure does go beyond the immediate senatorial concerns. And just when I thought nobody in his office was reading our letters, email, op-ed pieces... Bill Keel
