The Moon shot this morning. As I haven't waked up early enough, the scope was not really at the ambient temperature, so the picture is not as sharp as I would have liked. Mozaique of 38 pictures, taken with a Toucam Pro at the prime focus of a C8, with an IR-cut filter. http://images.ciel.free.fr/Eversion/Moon/Moon23d.html -- Norbert. Great shot! The moon is always a spectacle. A geologic wonder.

A toucam did that with a C8?? The C8 is on the list for me. It's a mainstay. Is the difference between it and a C9.25 significant? >> C8, with an IR-cut filter. > > > Great shot! The moon is always a spectacle. A geologic wonder. >

This is one great advantage of the C8, it's light and when you must go away from home for observing (because of light pollution) it's something that has to be taken into account. -- Norbert. (IMHO) Of the three the C 11 is probably the best bet, as a 9.25 really requires literally the same mount rating. Getting a C 14 all of a sudden means more mount involved. Getting a C 11 (like me) makes justifying getting a C 14 much harder... Tho as some can attest, one can run a C 14 on a G 11 Weight is not the only consideration as well. These things get bulky, and awkward as size increases. For a permanent installation, the mount is the most important part. That said, a C 8 (or Meade 8") is the most versatile and useful scope ever devised ;-) -- AM http://sctuser.home.comcast.net
