I was given a reflector telesope for Christmas 2 years ago. After heart attacks etc. I just now got it out of the box , set it up, couldn't see anything. Yup, got the lens caps off, got it pointed North, but can't see anything. Can someone help me? Hawk

Good advice -- BUT -- WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT POINT THE TELESCOPE TOWARD THE SUN OR ANYWHERE CLOSE TO THE SUN. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.

Did it come with instructions? Try learning how to using it during the day pointing at familiar distant objects. Use the lowest powered (highest number) eyepieces first. Upon success try it on an easy object such as the first quarter (half disk) moon. -- Rick Evans ---------------------------------------------------------------- Lat +42° 11' 07" Lon -71° 04' 35" ---------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.chempensoftware.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- http://mysite.verizon.net/hiltonevans33050/astroimaging/astroimaging.htm

Yup, got the lens caps off, got it pointed North, but can't see >anything. Can someone help me? Try using the telescope with the eyepiece that has the largest number on it. For example, if you have a 20mm and 4mm eyepiece -- use the 20mm eyepiece (It will provide a lower magnification and be much easier to use.) If the telescope came with a Barlow, set the Barlow aside for now. The telescope will be much easier to use without the Barlow. A reflecting telescope has its eyepiece positioned near the front of the telescope. This may be obvious to you. If so, I apologize; but some people have been known to try to use reflecting telescopes backwards! When you point the telescope out a window in the daytime do you see a tiny circle of light in the eyepiece? Your answer to this question will provide us with a place to begin. Try to focus on a distant object in the daytime before trying to use the telescope at night. Don't worry if you see an image that's upside down, sideways, or otherwise tilted. It might be helpful to know the specific telescope you have. Meade markets a huge assortment of telescopes. Someone here might be familiar with the specific telescope you have. Willie R.
