Does Meade still sell and support the 55? Their site shows no mention of it. I see the 75 but not the 55. Wayne T. Watson (Watson Adventures, Prop., Nevada City, CA) (121.015 Deg. W, 39.262 Deg. When I was at the Meade tent at Riverside, I noticed the 75, and thought to myself, "That looks a lot like the 55. Too bad it wasn't available when our museum bought the 55." It just looked better than the 55, and improvements to the mount were certainly needed. OK, here's my next question. What autostar upgrade does the 55 take > I don't see anything on their site that specifically mentions the 55. I'm nearly finished hypertuning (HT) our. What an ordeal that's been. Anyway, the HT DVD talks about updating the software with ASU. I see an ASU for the RX400. There are two others, LX200GPS and something like 53. How do I get the current software? I have a feeling that I have a CD around here from about 18 months ago that contains one we purchased with the #505 cable kit. Wayne T. Wayne, They no longer sell the ldx-55 series. Those were stopeed a year or so=20 ago, and replaced by the munch better LXD-75 series. The OTAs are the=20 same, but the mounts are much improved. They do still support them however. Craig In article <oSqCg.6548$0e5.1207@newsread4.news.pas.earthlink.net >,=20 wolf_tracks@invalid.com says... > Does Meade still sell and support the 55? I urge you to finish your work on the mount and get it going again before you upgrade the firmware, however, just in case something ain't exactly right, you'll know what to blame. ;-) Peace, Rod Mollise Author of: Choosing and Using a Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope and The Urban Astronomer's Guide <http://skywatch.brainiac.com/astroland > The Annual SCT User Imaging Contest is Underway! <http://www.rothritter.com/contest/2006/ >
