This is a very intersting story and I believe it to be 100% true.

A freind of mine was in a bar in Florida in 1969 just before the
Apollo 11 mission. I was in Guam in the USN at the time and he told me
this in 1972. He saw and spoke to Niel Armstron.

Niel told him this story about being in a motel in Charlott NC the
previous June (1968).

Quote from Niel Armstron:

"The motel walls were paper thin and I heard a man pleading with his
wife to perform (an act not legal in Florida) upon him. Niel heard the
wife say " Manny Klein, I will do that to you the day a man walks on
the moon".

Next time you hear the tape of Niel as he steps off the lunar lander,
he really says "

"One small step for man, one giant leap for Manny Klein". When HUSTON
heard it, they blocked the crucial part which held the last part of
Manny's name so that it coes out "One small step for man, one giant
leap for MAN(crackel) KIND.

Not true. Just an urban legend.

Neil sure fucked up. The actual quote is grammically wrong and meaningless

Neil was No actor, he was over 250,000 miles from Earth at the time, on a
thing we call The Moon and anyone who doesn't belive that is invited to see
in person the buttom of the lava vent of the Volcano in Hawaii.

He did botch his lines, although I have seen at least one book that quotes
what he should have said.

Please note I am not agreeing that Armstong said anything about Manny Klein
when he stepped onto the Moon.

Man never walked on the moon.
We all know that.
It was a huge hoax perpetrated by Manny Klein, but it was all wasted.
Mrs. Klein didn't believe it either.

Yes he did and I wish the MEDIA clown revisionists would stop trying
to remake history like Geobels trying to pave the way for Hitler - its a
commentary on our whole era. Who gives a crap what he said! Or didnt

Here's a new analysis that suggests he didn't botch his lines:

Joe,

Interesting, but I sure don't get this statement....
"But an analysis of the audio files downloaded from Nasa's website using
GoldWave, a $45 (£24) audio editing program, indicates that the word was
spoken but not recorded by Mr Armstrong's microphone before being
transmitted to the 500 million people watching the Apollo 11 mission." It
doesn't make any sense to me.

We estimate my wife heard the famous words about 3,000 times while she was a
planetarium educator, and she never thought there was an "a" in there.

Yeah boy, Ed. That's convincing all right. I wondered why the image was so
much clearer than the original. I wondered why it didn't sound like Neil
Armstrong, either.
