In the City of Yucca Valley, California in the recreation center , over 200 people are listening to Alex McConahay speak aboout the RIverside Astronomical Society's Eclipse trip to Egypt. Next up is Gary Peterson's talk about life on Mars. David Levy is here to talk about comets, natually. Matthew Ota

With the cooling real estate market I believe he was just there for a long weekend investigating investment opportunities. See: http://www.garywpeterson.com/ Evidently he did pick up some fashion tips on Mars. -- -John Steinberg email: not@thistime.invalid

I went on up to Machris Park afterwards and waited for the skies to clear. About 8:30 pm, we finally started getting some breaks in the clouds. Clouds kept rolling by for most of the evening and there was a lot of moisture in the air. Also, the lights from the park's restroom were surprisingly bright. But we did get to show a dozen or so stragglers a number of deep sky objects. The old standbys sufficed: M31, M45, M57, the Swan Nebula, M27. Hopefully, the weather on November 18 will be much more cooperative.
