Subject: Help switching from wedge to alt-azimuth

I have a 1990-vintage Meade 2080XL that came with an equatorial wedge.
It's a fork-mounted 8" f/6.3 SCT. I would like to be able to operate it
without the wedge but I'm unable to mount he base of the telescope
directly to the tripod. The base of the telescope mounts to the wedge
with 3 3/8" bolts. The tripod has a 1/2" bolt that goes through the
spreader and up through the top of the tripod. There is hole in the
center of the telescope's base but it's a 1/4 20. Is there some kind of
adapter I need to bypass the wedge? .
