Subject: Good Clouds!

Sometimes clouds are good.

Clouds give us a break from that dark, vampirish world of amateur
astronomy. After polishing up a couple sketches from last night's
observing session and posting them on my blog, I feel like taking a
break; but I just don't think I could have taken that break if my sky
had remained clear! Yes, this evening I like the clouds!

P.S. Have you wondered why some us will painstakingly observe cloud
formations on Jupiter, or nebulous clouds of dust and gas in outer
space; yet we rarely take any time at all to study the much closer
clouds a few hundreds (or thousands) of feet above our heads? (It was
just a thought. No, I don't plan on taking up meteorology!)

Same reason some climb ice covered sheer rock faces in
the late fall. It's all in the sense of personal accomplishment.
Except, we don't end up costing taxpayers tens of thousands of
dollars being rescued or recovered.
