Subject: Going out

Just checked outside, even with the little wind that is blowing, it's not
bad out tonight, so for awhile going to shut down the computer and fire up
the car and move it to the dirt driveway that's by my big garden and set up
my dob and put in a few hours of viwing. I even thing I'll find M8 tonight.

I was out there and I found M8, only I wish I hadn't. It was always one of
the summer objets I'd show off when in Hawaii, but here, the
palmdale/langcaster lp wipes out the neb itself and all you see is the stars
in it. So I slowly moved the scope up and down and sideways viewing the
other objects I could find that the lp didn't bother. Then I found something
and I'm not sure what I found. Looing at the area with my telrad, it was 1.5
thumbs across and almost 2 thumbs up from the top star of the teapot. With
the LP it might have been a neg, but my centerfold astronomy map only shows
the open cluster m11 near that area, but this object was just above what
could have been an open cluster, but the object itself looked to be long,
almost 1/2 the view with a 25mm ep, it was acress the view of a 10mm EP, now
with the lp whatever I was looking at could have been anything, but just
looking at it it was almost as if I was seeing a small galaxy, but I thing
it most likly somekind of a neb.

After not figuring out what that was/is, I moved over to M31 and just moved
around that section of the sky too.

Came back in about 2am.

If you're far enough to think you're seeing M11 and it's nebulous, I'm
going to venture that you didn't get quite as far up as M11, and you
got M17 instead.

Will, I googled m11 and nope it's not what I was seeing, this is one time I
wish I did have a way to take a photo, but I'll keep looking at maps and
stuff to see if I can find out what it was.
