Subject: Finally met SWAN...


I FINALLY got a clear night to catch a casual look at Comet SWAN!
Driving home from a grocery haul in a nearby town, I noticed a few stars
through the windshield. At about 8:45pm I drove a couple of miles north
of my little burg with 11x80 binocs, and quickly located the little
fuzzball just below Hercules, right where it was supposed to be. I'm
not a good magnitude estimator, but SWAN fit neatly into the same FOV
with M13, and it put the famous globular to shame! I didn't make out
any significant tail, but a very nice little comet!
Before heading back home, I also took a look at M92 and the
Pleiades. This old world would be just a little drearier without the
Pleiades...
