Subject: Finally met SWAN...

I FINALLY got a clear night to catch a casual look at Comet SWAN! Driving home from a grocery haul in a nearby town, I noticed a few stars through the windshield. At about 8:45pm I drove a couple of miles north of my little burg with 11x80 binocs, and quickly located the little fuzzball just below Hercules, right where it was supposed to be. I'm not a good magnitude estimator, but SWAN fit neatly into the same FOV with M13, and it put the famous globular to shame! I didn't make out any significant tail, but a very nice little comet! Before heading back home, I also took a look at M92 and the Pleiades. This old world would be just a little drearier without the Pleiades... Marty
