Does anyone know where I can find a simple (cheap) 1.25" filter holder based on a slide and not rotation

I've always wanted one; but found the price to always be a bit unrealistically high. Also, dew/frost formation on exposed filters has been a concern. Your question got me thinking. I recently bought a 'shorty' 2x Barlow to replace an older, longer, 2x Barlow. I could probably butcher the older Barlow and make a decent 'quick-change' filter holder out of it. IOW, if you have suitable parts lying around you might be able to make your own -- possibly even better than the expensive, manufactured models! Instead of a slide I may be able to improvise a slot to drop a filter into. To change filters I could plop out one filter and plop in a different filter (various procedural ideas come to mind that I'll need to narrow down and fine tune). This would still be much more convenient than removing the eyepiece, unscrewing one filter, screwing in another and re-inserting the eyepiece. Such devices would very likely lead to more filter experimentation and use. Good luck in your search! Meanwhile I'll see what I can make with I have on hand ;-) Willie R. Meghar
