Subject: FS: Orion Telescope, 9 lenses, tripod & More

I am selling a LIKE NEW 127mm Orion StarMax telescope.

Also included are: 9 Plossl lens (valued at $50 each), a dew shield for the
scope, carrying bag for the telescope, a set of 4 planetary colored filters,
the tripod and equatorial mount, a hardcase for the lens/filters, scope
upgrades and more!

Everything is in LIKE NEW condition! I added up everything last night, and
there is over $1200 worth of equipment. My asking price is $750!

Want to view the stars? Look at the planets? Jupiter and Saturn is my fav to
view!

Pics here:

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g320/mistershipwreck/scope2.jpg

Like new Orion StarMax 127mm telescope! Because of the specific design, this
5" lensed scope is equivalent to a scope almost 3 times longer, but is
easier to move! Don't let the compact size fool you (you can research the
design if you like)

- Also included are the tripod and extra weight for the EQ3 Mount
- 9 Plossl Lenses (approx $50 each for every lens)
- Diag mirror that came withs cope.
- A set of 4 colored filters (1.25") with their case
- Viewing Scope on top of Telescope - Helps you locate objects!
- Portable Orion shoulder bag for scope
- Flexible Orion dew shield
- An official Orion hard case for the lenses and filters is also included.

Furthermore:

- The scope has a ScopeStuff focusing knob upgrade (allows easier minute
focusing) - This was purchased seperately on my own.
- Two Scopestuff quick release bolts are also included - Helps to take the
scope off of the tripod easier without having to use a tool to disasemble!

The included 1.25" Plossl lenses are:

Celestron 6mm Plossl
Sirius 7.5 mm Plossl
Scopetronix 9mm Plossl
Sirius 12.5 mm Plossl
Scopetronix 15mm Plossl
Scopetronix 20mm Plossl
Sirius 25 mm Plossl
Celestron 32mm Plossl
Scopetronix 40mm Plossl

This is every lens you need to use the scope!

Scope comes with all dustcovers, and assorted tools that shipped with the
scope.

Moved recently to mosquito central (huge nearby field), and I just don't use
it anymore. Located in College Station, TX - Willing to meet people living
in the surrounding areas (Austin/Houston/San Antonio - I will drive part of
the way or come all the way to Houston).

I would rather not ship this because it will take me a long time to find
suitable shipping boxes (especially for the tripod). Everything included is
over $1100 worth of items. My asking price is $750 (just lowered).

This is a very good package!

Hi:

This ain't a bad price, I guess. If somebody wants a boatload of
Chinese plossls. But the problems?

1. The used scope market is currently depressed.

2. Yes, you're including a lot of "lenses" (eyepieces), but they are
all of cheap and simple designs.

You might be better off trying to sell the eyepieces separately and
knocking some more money off the price of the scope.

Oh...and try Astromart.

Also, given your location, insisting on "pickup" is probably a
non-starter. ;-)

I am using Astromart - And, Plossl lens are not bad lens. It is true, one
could buy Orthoscopic lens and such. But the Plossl lens are fine for scopes
under 8 inches in my opinion.

Also, I am near to Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio, so I have a good
chance that someone may see it and want to buy it.

I have already had several people interested out of state. So, I may
eventually will have to track down some boxes to fit and ship it...

I have a good news for you. This is probably 4 times as many "lenses" as
you think it is. Feel free to multiply your asking price accordingly. Only
a real connoisseur will purchase anyway... :-)

No, I understand the magnification factor on this scope - I was given a 4mm
lens which I sold, because it was useless. I have used the 7.5mm a few
times.

Well, I disagree with that quite a bit. You only need ONE eyepiece to
use any telescope. :-)

Maybe so, but you seem to have misunderstood the comment.
(Hint: how many lenses in a Plossl?)

:-)

Hi;

I didn't SAY they are bad. What I meant was, "Don't expect people to
crawl all over themselves to buy your large collection of inexpensive
plossls." If there'd been a TV plossl or two in there, you might have
generated a bit more interest. Let's face it, Chinese plossls are a
dime a dozen.

Plossl eyepieces _can_ be fine in 20-inch telescopes, but there are
plenty of better designs and not just Orthoscopics. ;-)

Anyway, good luck selling your little CAT and your enormous collection
of Plossl "lenses."

:-)
