That expensive motorized reclining binocular chair being advertised in the
astronomy mags got me thinking and I built my own. It is pretty low cost,
powered by a hand drill and designed to handle my heavy 25X100 Apogee
binoculars. I posted construction details with pics and animations of the
chair in use and setup here:

I was planning to build a peltier cooled adult beverage cooler for the
chair, but opted for a commercial unit instead (see page 7).

VERY nice! I don't know when I will get a chance to built a similar one for
my 20x100 Apogee, but I'll definitely consider your designs when I do.

Cool. Just don't tell your dentist about it. He may extend the concept
in unpleasant directions ;)

I don't know, those dentist chairs are awfully comfortable. It is just the
dentist and his tools that give me the shakes.

Let's see; I have an old discarded bicycle; an extra battery hand drill;
one of those fancy reclining chairs; some sheets of plywood, 2x4s, and
nuts and bolts; left over conduit; baskets of bungees; and some big binocs.

I'm going to have to think long and hard to come up with reasons why
it's to difficult to build one of these contraptions. Must be something.

lal,

Check to see if you also have an electric ice cream machine laying around.
Adding it to the binochair can provide smoother operation. I upgraded my
binochair using a "Dolly Madison Ice Cream Maker"; construction details
posted here:
