I'm needing a copy of the Tinsley ad on page 368 of that issue for my web page on the history of a local private observatory. See the Morgan Observatory page at http://odin.prohosting.com/leamb/Morgan/ if you're interested. Supposedly the telescope pictured in the Tinsley ad is one of the Morgan telescopes. If someone could scan that ad I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Les

It was interesting to find that Ben and Ronnie met and came to know John Charles Duncan at Lowell. We are the webmasters of the Horsehead Nebula website, and our research article about the early photos of that nebula deals with Duncan. Dr. Alan Sandage told my husband that Dr. Duncan was highly respected by the astronomers at Palomar for his achievements in early nebular photography with the Hooker telescope on Mt. Wilson. He was a very nice gentleman whom Dr. Sandage liked: Duncan was thrilled, as an elderly retired man, to be allowed to guide a photograph with the Hale 200" telescope when Sandage was researching RR Lyrae variables in M-15. If the Morgans impressed Duncan, they really *were* remarkably informed amateur astronomers! RR

Dr. Duncan must have been a nice gentleman in addition to being a good scientist. Les
