Subject: Confusion about Mars on the 27th

I'm using Starry Night Enthusiast 5.0 (with latest updates) to see how close
Mars will be on 8/27/2006. It does not look that close, it looks a lot
closer on 10/25/2005. On the 27th of this month Earth and Mars appears to be
almost at opposite ends of each orbit. I certain of the dates I'm using in
Starry Night... not sure if I understand.

Thanks,

Ot's very simply, the garbage you've seen i an email or been told by someone
is garbage. It's left over hype from 2003.

It seems that someone resurrects this same garbage every year.

Yup, and we'll have to deal with it every year until the sick bastards
that keep spewing it out each year get tired and move on to something
else. Sad but (t)rue.

If Mars ever looked as big as a full moon, then it's to late, the two
planets (Mars/Earth) would already be having massive quakes and volcanos and
storms like you'd never seen before.

Well, according to Immanuel Velikovski and Nancy...

I/m talking about quakes that would have by now ripped the earth apart,
there would be so many volcanos going off our sky would be black from the
smoke and mankind has never seen the kind of storms that this would cause.

And Mars itself wouldn't be any better off. Plus whatever pushed mars out of
it's orbit would most likly have just as bad effect on earth itself.

Correction. I believe that Nancy was discussing "Planet-X" and not Mars. We
haven't heard from her in a very long time. I assume that she is locked-up
somewhere is a rubber room and hopefully will stay there.

Yes, and Velikovski was talking about Venus. However, both pictured the
solar system working like a game of bumper pool.

Greg,

Thanks for the clearing that up for me... I looked at this article
http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/mars_amateurs_030624.html but did not
notice the 2003 date. Yes, I feel foolish... at least Starry Night appears
to be working properly!

As others have poiinted out, this is an idiotic chain
letter that keeps getting recycled each year.

Just because it's on the Internet doesn't mean it's true.
