Subject: Cartes Du Ciel

I have loaded Cartes Du Ciel ver. 2.76 with the Tycho2 catalog. For a
while it saw the catalog, but now it can't. I have tried reloading them
and also running "Repair Installation" and then reloading the tycho2 cat.
To no avail, Ciel can't see the catalogs. Even though I can see them
there.

Have you tried going to preferences and checking
catalog's ? (or go to catalogs and see if it is set as one)
Also IIRC, you might have to zoom in the view to get the
fainter stars/DSO's It has been a while since I used 2.76,
I have the beta 3.0.1.0 now under linux.
Sorry, I am using XEphem right now, and dont have CDC 2.76
on this box.

Ok, with skychart how do you add additional indexes like sao, variable
stars, etc.?

Then most likely your tycho2 catalogue is not properly installed. Go to
the Cartes Du Ciel downloads page, considering redownloading and
reinstalling the catalogue.

Note there are three files:
Tycho-2 parts 1 and 2
Tycho catalogue conversion utility
You have to run the conversion utility on the tycho downloads to make
them compatible with Cartes.
