I set up my 10 inch SCT at Bixby Park on Ocean Blvd. in Long Beach last night. Displayed Jupiter, Alberio, Antares, M57 and the Dumbbell Nebula to friends and passers-by. I had about 17 people look through the eyepieces.

This time it was mostly adults, that particular neighborhood in Long Beach is mostly young urban professionals. However, I have done many outreaches with the Orange County Astronomers at many schools in Orange County over the past five years, ranging from elementary through college levels. I agree that chidren seem to be the most impressed, since they are naturally impressable. A. A friend sets up every year at an all-night American Cancer Society fund raising "walk" at a local high school. He uses 2 or 3 borrowed Dobs (6 & 8 inchers) and has his kids help. People walking for the fundraiser stop and look thru the scopes in pretty large numbers. He gives out handouts on what they're seeing and on light pollution. George N
