Hi all,

Here's another shot from the early morning of the 14th showing the
craters Arzachel, Alphonsus and Ptolemaeus...

As always, a fantastic image. Every time you post I get all excited.

Just a heads up though, you are missing a closing bracket after
'(southern portion of the wall.', and it looks as though a Kraken is
leading the conga-line consisting of an ant, rat, golem, and floating
eye. ;) (Nethack!) (Last paragraph, ';arge flooded crater Davy Y')

Well spotted that man! I obviously need a proof reader! Fixes have now
been applied.

Pyroclastic?

Lovely pics, Pete.

Thanks Graham, yes I think "Pyroclastic" is correct (according to a
lunar geologist I know ;-) ).

Selenologist? ;-)

I'd like to add my praise for the pictures. I wonder if there would be
much difference were you to take the same images at exactly the same phase
but at opposite ends of the year, i.e. when the moon is at its lowest and
highest possible declinations? I'm just wondering if parallax would cause
much difference to shadows and other lighting effects.

These things always remind me of pingos. Note the centres of them and
the fact that they don't seem to splatter into each other.

Always presupposing that craters were formed by meteor hits; the
surface of the moon aught to allow the production of non circular ones
would they not?
Or is that why the geology expert maintains they are pyroclastic?

If pyroclastic for that reason, why not pingoic or whatever the term
might be?
