Subject: Anyone watch NOVA's 'Mars: Dead or Alive'?

I was interested in the Science vs the Engineering aspects as well as the suspense; this despite the the fact that I already _knew_ both landers had made it OK. <http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/mars > Still, in this age of 'too many channels' I find PBS continues to put out stuff worth watching. TBerk

A roll of Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil and some metal wire Coat Hangers are in the mail! otoh, you might check the web site for a web cast version or if you are using a slower connection I think free transcripts are available as well. I've got this episode on VHS and it is indeed a great story about fixing engineering problems up to the last minute. I've enjoyed reading histories of the development of the Apollo program's lunar lander for the same reason. If you get to attend Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Open House, you'll enjoy visiting their machine shop where they actually make a lot of probe hardware.
