I am definitely going to add this to my M31, M32, M110 info that I present
at public events. Just a couple of evenings ago our club did an event for
an elementary school, and this trio of galaxies was a big hit. A number of
kids and parents were able to observe M32 and M110 with M31 in the same
field when given instructions on where to look and what to look for, and
even with some pretty annoying parking lot lights. Also, there was a little
concern when I said that our galaxy would eventually collide with M31, but I
assured the kids that this would happen so far in the future that humans
would by then be able to protect themselves from any bad consequences. On a
different note, one woman holding her young daughter's hand asked me if we
were inside the Milky Way galaxy, or outside it. When I said that we were
located in the Milky Way galaxy, the little girl said something like "See
mommy, I told you so."
