In the following website; http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=4248 the image shown is the stereograph of Tyco's supernova synthesized by Stereographer (original image: Chandra X-ray satellite). You end up with images where there is no relationship between the synthesized depth and physical reality. Some of the images on your site show very little depth effect, and others show painfully false effects, typically a galaxy or nebula floating over a planar star field (in the case of galaxies, virtually every star that is visible should be seen closer than the galaxy). Even worse are the false stereograms produced from planetary images. A good indication of just how un-physical this is comes from the fact that the astronomical examples can be viewed either with parallel or crossed eyes, and neither is consistently "better". _________________________________________________ Chris L Peterson Cloudbait Observatory http://www.cloudbait.com
