This is done on the alt.binaries.pictures.astro group, and they still get spam, but the amount that correctly has the header (and is therefore 'seen' by people who set their email client up to remove posts if they don't have this), is _tiny_. Most of these posts are 'robotic', and checking by the people(?...) involved is minimal. Several other groups (including in some cases, ones that require a 'login'), are being hit, in various fields. I'm afraid it is probably caused by the school holidays... :-( Best Wishes
