Flipping through the HD channels today I came across a guy and a kid with a telescope on the beach in a program called Summerland, episode name, The Pleiades. He was talking about the mythology of Orion and the Pleiades then they showed a picture of M45 in the sky. The guy says its light shines from reflected starlight on dust in space. So far so good. Then the kid looks though the telescope, but wait, its a 4" Newtonian and its pointing DOWN. They show an astrophoto of M45 and the kid says "it glows blue, just like a picture". Wow, what a 4" reflector, not only can you see color in M45 but you see it reflected off the SAND! -- -- -Jason Ware --------------------------------------------------------- VISIT MY ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY HOMEPAGE!! It must be a necessary job qualification. As is an overrated sense of self-worth due to being grossly overpaid for owning such a small talent. While flicking round the radio dial yesterday I found two Danish commercial radio DJ morons openly sniggering at a Neils Bohr Institute astrophysicist patiently trying to explain that there was a new potential find of water on Mars. This, thanks to the second rover studying its own tracks. Since these drivelling idiots had taken the liberty of ringing this scientist in the first place I wondered why they had bothered. Except perhaps to further expose their crippling stupidity and blatant rudeness to a wider audience? Dumb and Dumber seemed not to have grasped the nettle of simple good manners whatever they might have thought of the subject matter. The scientist concerned seemed to take it all in good spirits but I bet he won't be responding to further calls from Denmark's TV2. Whatever the reason.
