Has anyone considered moving SAA to either yahoo groups, astromart, or
cloudy nights? A group could be created and called "SAA". This will
eliminate the kooks like Danny Joe and the children that are attacking
Dennis. All of the options that I mentioned are un-moderated but they are
policed and therefore users that post spam and off-topic discussions can be
banned from the group. There are too many kooks here on this group and it is
really out-of-control. Actually most of the usenet groups are
out-of-control. Yahoo, Astromart, or Cloudy Nights would be a good home for
this group. Why doesn't everyone just pack your bags and move to some better
digs?

What was it like showing an eager Rosamond audience the great

I have noticed over the years that s.a.a. and the entire usenet is
available in many online achives that are "shells" over the usenet.
Google Groups seems to be the most popular one.

But it is scary to see how visible usenet postings are on the internet
as a whole, especially when some of us do not use aliases or
pseudonyms

The usenet is the oldest computer network messaging system, and IMHO,
that means it is the best

The parallel posting is the most valuable asset here.

On Yahoo groups one always feels one is interrupting somebody and the
threads peter out as quickly as somebody changes the subject. Usually
just as things are getting interesting.

I have now decided the Borked Pseudo lot are all pedophiles hiding
their identities from the authorities. I have no reason to think
otherwise.

They are all tarred with the same brush. Where a society won't or
can't police its wrongdoers they all end up with the same reputation.

Where a secret society uses anonymity to protect its members there
must be fallback mechanism to censor those corrupted by the power of
anonymity.

Starlord's anonymous, cowardly bully has given the entire Borked crowd
a clear identity.

Their product branding is down to one very sick individual.

So:
Borked = pedophile.
Borked = pervert.
Borked = coward.
Borked = bully.
Borked = cyber nazi.
Borked = corrupt.
Borked = infantile.
Borked = obsessional anal fixation.
Borked = anything you can imagine.

I have BIG news for you, my Starlord handle is so old that it goes all the
way back to the 1050's, that's right, even before CB radio. It became part
of my ID when I was reading all sci=fi books at the time. I have over the
last almost 20 years have writen "Starlord" short storys, and I am the
Leader of the "Starlord International Assoc. of Rocketry" too, a
international group of Model Rocketeers. So in my book, anyone that feels
that they have to grip about the useage of this handle, can go take a nice
scarp 3ft long Japanese Sword and SIT ON IT. Do you think I'm going to
change it or do away with it, Fact change of that happing. As it was formed
when I was in early school and has gone with me ever since all these long
years and has in it's on way become part of me, it's going to stay.

And as a side note, on the night of May 28th with my scope on the wagon and
after my masive turn out of people wanting to see the sky, I lost my wallet
on the way home, no money in it just my cards,ets. This last saterday when I
got up I went into my living room and opened up the curtains over the front
door, this was about 7am, I looked down and there was a small box on my
front steps, I opened it up wondering what it was about, my wallet was in it
and no way to see who had dropped it off, now 90% of my cards had already
been replaced and yet all that had been lost was still there. and the box
was addressed to "Starlord".

I actually want the nut cases to post. I've collecting evidence to

I agree Rod but it would be nice if there was less off topic posts.
I looked at astromart last night having never had the need or desire to join

Use a newsreader that supports killfiling, and you won't have to worry
about them.

Q: Why is top posting frowned upon?

As far as I'm concerned one of the most attractive things about
saa is that it's so "raw". It was really raw untill they upgraded
the newsreader last fall.

A couple of sweeps on that little roller on your mouse does a lot
toward negating anything noxious and the best place place to keep
a killfile is in your head.

You'd lose me, and a few others who don't want anything to do with
web-based forums. Not much works as well as Usenet for this kind of
thing. Forums like Yahoo that support email are a bit better, but posts
don't thread anywhere near as nicely as they do here.

I don't know why you even care about a few kooks- it's trivial to either
filter them or ignore them.

NO, I wouldn't consider it. As for Min and the fool who attacks
Starlord, ignore them. They won't go away but who gives a shit. Scum
will always float to the surface no matter where you are.

saa is not a group, it is in the grandaddy usenet. Why bother, more
people can access the usenet through many means than through a
commercial group.

Kill files and ignoring kooks works pretty well here.

But why bother with kill-files and ignoring kooks when you can move to a new
venue where you don't have these problems? What is the attraction of usenet
that makes it superior to the venues that I suggested?

Lack of whimsical Nepotism and Fascist Oligarchism, for two!
You want a mullah go visit Hitler's grave.

Yahoo is no solution. Its moderated. Two blowholes and one religious moral
majority hypocrit get in charge and the first thing
you know all questionable non-approved posters are put under strict moderation
in order to "preserve the positive image" of the
group! Drunks are allowed by their Christian bretheren but anyone who questions
anything is put under strict moderation and not allowed to post without review -
! such as the Cedar Astronomers have done with their Yahoo group!

The group becomes a farce immediately. Important people dont post at all and
quit. Morons constantly post fluff. "The good image
of the group is preserved". BUT! It also allows the real nitwits
to conduct their naferious agendae such as back Intelligent Design
behind everyone's back . . . in the name of the whole club!

Whoever "owns" the group can do whatever they want with it
and they do. The CAA Yahoo group is a farce and everyone knows it.

Praise cheeses.

. . .

First of all there are problems with "moderated" groups. First of all
there are the larger than average ego's of the "list owner" wherein they
can censure discussion at their whim. For all of it's problems on usenet
everyone is equal.

There are plenty of moderated forums that have value mind you ... but
s.a.a. is still an interesting place.

Yahoo has lots of good groups. I'm a member of many of them. SAA on =
usenet it just another venue. Use what you enjoy and don't use what you =
don't. Simple.

Nobody owns USENET. Yahoo groups have "owners" and that feature
causes trouble when the owner is no longer around to maintain the
group. SAA does without owners and moderators.

I've seen just as bad on some yahoogroups of which I own a few of and only
because a new posted has to have his message given MY OK and the ones I've
killed off and deleted from the list would make SAA look like a sunday
school. and my killfile is about 3 clisks of a mouse and that kook is doomed
forever in the darkness of the Cyber Black Hole.

What advantages does Usenet offer?
