I went out and spotted Saturn, Venus and Mercury from suburban
Nashville this evening (June 7, 2007) about 15 minutes after sunset.
Venus was bright and obvious to the unaided eye and I used it as a
guidepost to find Saturn and Mercury in binoculars. Once I'd located
Saturn in binoculars I could spot it naked eye. In the case of
Mercury it could have been a little wishful thinking to have seen it
naked eye.

I had similar results last week from Knoxville -- Venus is unmistakable.
Mercury was naked-eye object immediately after sunset -- problem was an
approaching cloud bank. Saturn popped out about 30 minutes after sunset.

Not necessarily. Several of us spotted it from Griffith Observatory
yesterday, Mercury was the last, but we saw it in strong twilight
without optical aid.
