An excellent article in the NYtimes about Harvard Observatory's
collection of astronomy photos. There is also an interesting slide
show of old equipment and star photos. The collection may appear
online.

P.S. - The Havard Project Homepage for the digitization project is at:

http://tdc-www.harvard.edu/plates/

Online, currently they are only providing a plate index. Only a few
scanned test plates for M44 (the Beehive Cluster) in the MC series are
actually online. Plug in "M44" into the search form at:

http://tdc-www.harvard.edu/cgi-bin/plates/mcsearch

Thanks for posting it. That was a really interesting, well-written
article. Digitizing old plates, accessible to amateurs, would allow
time comparisions for changes in Milky Way nebula. - Canopus56
