Subject: MEADE DSI II problem

I just purchased it. Loaded the software (autostar suite) fine,
drivers, etc.. OK. Now when I lauch Autostar envisage, it displays the
CCD temperature so it is connected. But .... BLANK photo, no magic
focus, just pure white screen. I have USB 2. Tried to play with
sliders, auto WB, nothing , no lightning shifts, nada.
what would be the cause? tries on my laptop as well, same thing

The Deep Sky Imager has no lens to focus the image so you have to put
in your scope in order to get a focused image and it can be tricky to
get an image in focus. Endeavor to persevere. If you can cover the
sensor with an opaque item and see light and dark then its probably
working.

I am now convinced the camera does not work because whatever I do i
get either a pic with no snow, whatever it is dark or white, my darks
(taken with the camera cap) are pure black pics without a spot.I tried
all exposure time, daytime, it is the same. Now am a bit pissed off
since I bought it on ebay.

Increase the exposure to a second or two and point the cam at a bright
light. You should be able to tell the difference when you cover the
camera's aperture.

Actually, he probably needs to increase the exposure. Too little
exposure with the DSIs typically results in that blank, white frame.

Did that! I should get at least some lightnings ... I suspect that the
Camera does not work at all.

Are you in LIVE mode?
You may have to reduce the exposure time setting.
In a lighted room, set the DSI on its side pointing at a object. Then
reduce the exposure time until you get something.
