Does anyone live close enough to Dennis to visit him and report to us
about his needs??

I e-mailed the county sheriff and got a reply that a deputy went out
and checked -- they reported that he had a possible stroke and was
taken off in an ambulance a week ago and that's all they were
permitted to report.

I sent another e-mail to an animal rescue crowd and asked them to
check on his cats -- no reply yet.

I am on the East Coast and really can't do much except send money.

I'm sending him a card with some cash but I'm not convinced he'll ever
see the money.

And -- I suspect Dennis is a Medicaid patient. My father had a stroke
in late 2005 -- was hospitalized for a week then moved to a nursing
home where he died after after a few weeks. We could afford good care
but the Medicaid patients were treated like shit. Goddam but I hope
Starlord is not being treated that way.

If someone could go check on him -- and somehow get a mailing address
to the rest of us, I'd be willing to kick in a chunk of cash to help
Dennis.

Then -- there's the problem of rehab -- will he be able to walk??
talk?? care for himself?? Or -- is he consigned to a nursing home
for here on out?? Anyone know if he has family???

We can't save the world but maybe we could help one guy.

And this relates to Paris Hilton -- how? She certaainly can't act.

>Paris Hilton is valued by the public and media becasue of her looks

I suspect that being a billionare with a family that owns all
the Hilton hotels has something to do with it. That and the
sex tape.

Shall we go back to discussing that OTHER kind of star? :)

She was in Hollywood, traveling from drinking in a trendy
nightclub to more drinking in another trendy nightclub.

That sounds like something well within Paris Hilton's job
description to me.

Your internet stalking of Mr. Bishop, a person that you knew to have
health problems, contributed to his high blood pressure and eventual
stroke. You posts were certainly calculated to inflict emotional
distress on Mr. Bishop. Anonymous, you take your stalking victims as
you find them. Your stalking behavior has risen to the level of a
felony. The authorities should track you down, and if convicted, put
you in jail. Someone here may wish to collect Anonymous's posts and
forward them to the appropriate authorities.- C

Starlord is a regular poster on this group.

He is in his late 50's; Vietnam veteran, divorced several years ago,
partially disabled, severely diabetic, lives alone, limited income.

He is a "sidewalk astronomer" who -- in spite of leg and back pain --
several days each week -- loads his scope in a child's wagon and pulls
the wagon and scope several miles to a local street corner where he
sets up the scope and educates passers-by.

He has not posted for two weeks or so and we recently learned that he
suffered a stroke and is hospitalized.

All this is happening in the area of Rosamond, CA.

You are mistaken (and unkind.) Starlord recently purchased the home he
had been renting ...

I hope he's back in his own home RSN, enjoying his expanded collection
of astronomical instruments. That was quite a bundle of optical goodies
he recently acquired, and sorting through them was apparently keeping
him well entertained.

Assign an arbitrary value, as a human being, to Dennis Bishop. Obviously,
your own value is several order of magnitude below the one we have just
assigned. How does it feel?

Well there is a big difference:

Paris Hilton is syinking rich, so she gets special treatment.
I am not so the DMV screwed me.

For some reason unfathomable to me, American society places great
value and undue attention on people that
just have a talent at faking emotions (i.e. acting). Why this is I
will never understand.
Mind you I am not prejudiced against actors and Hollywood types. Many
of the amateur astronomers I work with are actors and scriptwriters.

Paris Hilton is valued b the public and media becasue of her looks
I do not judge women by their looks but by their personality and
intellect.

Paris Hilton did violate her restriction, and went to jail, albeit for
a very short time.
She broke the law.

I do not break the law. I drvie witin the limit set by the DMV, no
matter how unfair.
I would like to retrurn to on topic matters now

A similar restriction didn't stop Paris Hilton.

I just want to say that I am very touched by the outpouring of support for
Starlord in this group. I have never been anything but a drive-by reader.
I'd read Starlord's posts, and saw that some people trolled him, but really
didn't know who he was. You guys are to be commended.

Who's going to Shingletown this year? I'd like to meet some of you, if
possible.

I live 93 miles from Rosamond CA. I am in Gardena, CA
I cannot travel except to work due to a restriction on my driver's
license
imposed by the socialist DMV in California here on the Left Coast.
My restriction ends in the middle of August.

By then I am sure Starlord will be back in form.
It is best to be optomistic.. Many of my freinds and relatives that
have had strokes have had good recoveries.
