It _is_ a serious flaw if you use planetatium software to run your
scope <rolls eyes >.

most of us dont have internet connections 20 miles from home
in the field. Serious flaw. Google needs to jump right over and
connect the woods and pasture. Serious flaw. (rolling eyes)

If they take it to the next level, yes, I'd guess it will put a
hurtin' on general-home-use software. The problem for Google Sky, of
course, will be you can't use it in the field without an Internet
connection. What did I think? Impressive. What does it need to begin
with?

--Horizons.

--The SAO catalog for its lower level zooms rather than Yale Bright
Star.

--A print utility that allows dark stars on white sky.

--At least the option to change constellation figures from the H.A.
Rey style ones they've got not.

--Magnitude and size for DSOs on the pop-up windows.

Very impressive, however, particularly in its speed.

I have tried it, it is ok, not too fancy yet, I wonder whether it will wipe starry night away.
it was funny to see all my earth placemarks showing in ursa major, a bug I guess.

Yep. Looks pretty cool.
