My guess is that someone should contact the VA Hosp and tell them the
specifics and ask if they could relay a message to him.
Given his circumstances it would have to be the VA I would think.

If so, what's the address for the hospital?? We could send letters to
Dennis with stamped return envelopes -- maybe he'd be able to reply via

The last time Dennis went to hospital, it was Antelope Valley Hospital, or
Antelope Valley Health Care.
I spoke on the phone to a very pleasant man who would not tell me anything
because he was not allowed to, but he agreed that if there happened to be a
Dennis Bishop there as a patient, he would pass on my best wishes to him. I
sent a card addressed to Dennis at that hospital. I have since written to
Dennis at the trailer park, and emailed him at the trailer park. I received
no response.
If Dennis has gone back to that same hospital, I don't think it is a VA
establishment, so his present stay there is probably an interim measure. If
he is in fact already somewhere else, and anyone finds out where it is,
please let me know. I feel helpless here on the other side of the planet. If
I send a registered letter to Dennis at that hospital, and he is not there,
I think they have to send it back to me. I'll do that tomorrow. If it comes
back, he is not there. If it doesn't come back, perhaps he is there.

DB is in the LA VA system 310/478-3711 but they have nothing noted since
5/06(regular visit)...with all of thier info, he has not used the system
lately, but to all indicating records is NOT deceased.
He must be in private care????

where he moved to.
I can go to a hospital or other location if one is found, assuming he's

Sorry for the confusion I did not want tosay much as he does have the right
to privacy.
But here is what I was told by a man at the trailer park and lets see if I
can do this tactfully.
1. Dennis went to the hospital (voluntarily or not I do not know) about two
weeks ago and was not let back home.
2. He was move somewhere. I have no idea where but It might be in southern
California.
So thats about it so far.

That's not much to go on. If the speculation that he is at Antelope Valley
Hospital turns out to be correct -- or if it just seems likely or even
possible -- then I can go out there. I can't do it on Wednesday but could
after that. It's odd since I'd expect him to be in the VA system as usual.
I can check there easily.
Wherever he might be, though, I'm not sure how to find out anything except
to walk in and ask what room he's in. That's no different than calling;
usually they'll just connect you with a patient when you call the operator.
But I can try going in and see what I can find out if we can identify the
likely candidate hospitals.

Hi, Mark and all.
The story I read here, maybe around the end of last week, was
that DB had moved from his home in the trailer park to a
"home" somewhere in "southern California."
When I first saw that message, I wondered if maybe he had
moved voluntarily (as he had discussed possibly doing earlier
this summer after his stroke and his release from the facility
he was in). However, the context suggested instead that he
"had been moved" to some kind of institution in Southern
California, not necessarily by choice. This made me ask if
he had had some new medical emergency.
Of course, if he is at the hospital where someone inquired,
then we're at the next step. The idea proposed here of asking
them if they can forward a message asking permission to
contact him _if_ he happens to be there -- with their taking
the message by telephone deemed neither to confirm nor to deny
his presence -- sounds like a good one to me.
