Here's a mosaic of Clavius taken on the 4th August under reasonable
seeing conditions. There's another set that's still to be processed
covering the same area on the 5th August. What I'll do with the pair
once they're finished isn't clear yet :)

Beautiful!

I still hear "Clavius Base" when this group is mentioned. Shows what an
impact Clarke & Kubrick had on us all.

I feel like i've been there twice now... Thanks Pete.

Hi Pete,

That is a stunning image, the most detailed I think I've seen from a non
professional observatory. It just goes to show how the combination of OK
seeing, aperture, a fast CCD and you personal skills can combine to produce
images which raise the bar.

I'm in the process of getting my observatory ready to house a C14, so if I
can get images half as good as yours out of it, I''ll be a happy man.

Very best wishes and clear, dark skies.

Nice.

There seem to be a significant number of linear features running from top
left to bottom right, apparently topographic. Looks a bit like slip lines in
plastically deformed metal. Any explanation?

Wow!

It used to be fun and games to count the craterlets
inside Clavius but here one has the opportunity to count
them inside Clavius B.

I never noticed the the floor of Rutherford seems to
be uplifted (like Gassendi - others). This can only mean
there is more highland volcanism than I previously suspected.

Keep up the good work,
Ben

and I'll start spending more time reading Ben's postings,,
when he stops spamming the group and pretending that it is his own
plaything from some previously perseived upset.
Meanwhile I'll keep him in my killfile.
