I wish I knew the answer to that. Maybe because many of the folks
selling scopes on eBay don't know much about them and have an
exaggerated idea of their worth would be my guess, Rich.

All I can report what I've experienced. A recent NGT-18 I used, for
example, lost collimation everytime I moved the nosepiece to change
the eyepiece to a new position. Partly, perhaps, because it used
closet sliding door rollers for its "bearings."
The other mechanics on the scope were similarly poorly thought out and/
or executed. In MY opinion. Substantially poorer than the average
Meade or Celestron, which is not what I'd expect given how much the
NGT cost.
Good optics. Very disappointing otherwise. Which I'm sorry to say,
since this is a scope I really wanted to like. ;-(
I, BTW, don't have anything against Jim Burr and company. They make a
lot of good products. I continue to be disappointed in this one,
however.
