Hi. After doing prime focus with my Nikon F, I decided to get into the 21st century. Bought a 350D and got a Canon bayonet mount for my Lumicon off-axis easyguider. Last weekend I tried out the camera on my 24" dob w/ equatorial platform. Just used a simple shutter release, so the camera was not hooked up to the laptop. See images: http://www.stargazing.net/mas/pics_allen/photos.htm Had the camera set at ISO 800, noise reduction on. I do like that automatic dark subtraction. Yes, for a 2 minute shot you have to wait 2 minutes for the dark frame. Still, seems quicker than having to go back afterwards and manually take/subtract dark frames. Question. In the Camera, each image has it's ISO and the exposure time. Is there any way to transfer that information when the images are downloaded to the computer? This is my first attempt with the Canon and I was impressed. Haven't even tried RAW images or short shot stacking. I hope to go out tonight and try another set of exposures. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated...Dennis

That information is attached to the picture file in the EXIF header. When you transfer the picture file to the computer the EXIF header information goes with it. You can view the EXIF header information in the picture viewer. The EXIF header also includes the time of day, based on the clock in your camera, and with EOS lenses the focal length and f/stop. So the information is already in the jpeg, just have to access it? I haven't installed any of the Canon utilities on my XP, just imported the images with the USB connection. The XP picture viewer doesn't seem to display that info. Guess I'll have to install the Canon utilities on the XP...Dennis "William Hamblen" <wrhamblen@comcast.net > wrote in message news:3ul5e3palhiftm7ooio7n5kv6883v0aq8u@4ax.com... > On Sat, 8 Sep 2007 12:31:37 -0400, "Dennis Allen" > <dennis@dennisallen.com> wrote: > >>Question. The EXIF header is more or less a standard and XP knows about it. Bud -- The night is just the shadow of the Earth.
